Writing a dissertation primarily entails the hard task of simultaneously coming up with a significant design. At the start, I have to let myself be open to every input such as lectures and class discussions, books and articles I read, might as well to journals I encountered. These motivations and the knowledge that my study could be of great contribution and significance in the future researches had kept me going. With my limited knowledge on major scholarly topics that are most important in my field, and having the great topics already used up; I have to do some general reading in the field to come up with a significant and original topic. ... Considering the scope manageability and the significance of the continuously rising Halal market particularly in Tesco retail setting, we have agreed that I should focus on that topic. With the help of my tutor, I manage to have a firm grasp of the facts in my case, and have been dedicated to answer vital "why" and "how" questions within the topic. Trends and outcomes in ethic food marketing, as well as their causes must be dealt with despite their apparent unavailability. Dissertation involves series of intricate process that needs full attention, hard work, and consistency. Coming up with the mere title is rather challenging. The author must come up with a clear, succinct, simple yet fully explanatory and can perfectly reflect the content of the whole document. After long reflection, several rejections and experts advice, I finally came up with the title "Consumer Behavior in the Ethnic Food Market", believing that it will best suit my topic in the clearest and simplest manner. This is then succeeded with review of literature, a considerably long part of the whole paper that supposed to provide the reader with a summary of the current knowledge related to the topic to be studied. I have learned to utilize all great facilities in the universities. After filing some initial paperwork from graduate school, I immediately began with my review of literature. Reading thru all the files I have gathered, I was somewhat disappointed to find out that some of it was actually irrelevant if not far from what I should focus on. I must have been very eager to gather an enormous information by only looking at their titles and carelessly browsing its contents, that I have failed to realize that I those would just take me out of my topic.

The Physics of Light Propulsion Imagine a mode of transportation which allows a craft to ride upon a beam of light. This craft uses virtually no fuel, simply the air around us. The uses for such a craft would be endless, launching small satellites into orbit and in the future launching vessels much like today’s shuttles. This idea is no longer a product of science fiction but rather a reality. It is all made possible by the physics which controls everything in our everyday lives. There are two main components to this light propelled craft. The light source is a precision high-powered laser beam. The craft is a large, highly polished parabolic mirror that is designed to capture the laser beam. With the laser in a fixed position on the ground the mirror focuses the beam, rapidly heating the air, creating a wave of heated air out the back. This forces the vehicle in the opposite direction. As the beam is rapidly pulsed, the vehicle is continuously propelled forward. The laser pointer which many people now carry around on key chains was not thought as such a trivial toy or gadget ten years ago. The laser technology itself is a very complicated endeavor. The simple circuitry has evolved from years of work to make the theory behind the amplification of light possible. Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation or LASER, is best understood by beginning at the atomic level where the basis of an atom and its energy levels can be identified. In even the most basic chemistry class the atomic structure is one of the first lessons which is taught. The circular shells of an atom are placed around the nucleus with the electrons placed on these levels. Two in the first layer, eight in the next continuing on to the appropriate number. These shells are formed because electrons are limited to a series of fixed values, this is an example of quantization1. The law of conservation of energy is applied in that an electron may fall to a lower shell, but in doing this it must give up an amount of energy equal to the difference between the two levels. This energy is given up as light. Light is also considered to be quantized. It can be represented as groups of photons. Each photon carries one quantum of light energy. The amount of energy in a quantum depends on the wavelength of the light or the frequency.

Today’s job market is rapidly becoming globalized and more companies are entering into international markets in a variety of ways. Some companies are building plants in other countries, some companies are exporting products overseas, and some are entering into alliances with foreign companies. No matter how the involvements begin, the reality is that in today’s world, managing global human resources is something that is growing.Global competition is driving changes in organizations throughout the world. Companies are attempting to gain a competitive advantage and a way to accomplish this is to expand internationally. When a company decides to enter into a foreign market, whether to develop plants or other facilities in other countries, it is no simple task and many human resource issues surface. (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, and Wright; 534) Doing business globally requires that adaptations be made to reflect cultural and other factors that differ from each country.Human r esource regulations and laws vary among countries in character and detail. Equal employment legislation exists to varying degrees. In some countries, laws address issues such as employment discrimination and sexual harassment. For example, in the United States, Title VII established the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to administer and enforce the Civil Rights law at work. The commission consists of five members who have been appointed by the president with the consent and advice of the senate.The main objective of the EEOC is to investigate job discrimination complaints from aggravated individuals. Three different approaches are (1) Ethnocentric, (2) Polycentric and (3) Geocentric. In the ethnocentric pproach, the staffing and managing approach used is one consistent throughout the world. Companies which use this approach assume their home country approach is the best and that any employee around the world should follow it. The polycentric approach is applied when a company assumes each country is different than each other and employees in each country develop appropriate practices according to their surroundings. The last approach the geocentric approach tries to combine the best from headquarters and the subsidiaries to develop consistent worldwide practices.This practice shifts the power back to headquarters for hiring managers. Some disadvantages are aligned with the difficulty in recruiting qualified staff and communication difficulties in dealing with the parent company personnel.There are advantages to using transferred employees, as well. Some of the advantages are that the employee is familiar with the parent company’s policies and procedures and it permits closer control and coordination of international subsidiaries. When recruiting new employees, the classification of the employee is very import ant. The company should focus on allowing a balance between the practices of their own country and others to ensure the person they hire fits the personal characteristics fit for the job. It is very important for companies to have managers with a global perspective.Providing various trainings and developmental opportunities is a way to ensure managers are kept familiar with current procedures and current events. The ability to learn what others are doing in another country can be found beneficial to others, as incorporating new techniques can allow for growth and development. Performance evaluation is going to depend on the overall strategy set forth by human resources. Companies must evaluate employees from different countries which can be a very difficult task because consistency for performance comparisons is conflicted with the background of people of different cultures.There are two major concerns when formulating compensation for employees from different countries. The first i s the complexity which arises when trying to give a comparable and competitive package within the marketplace. The second concern is cost because companies strive to reduce their costs and this is challenging when bringing in employees who need to be compensated for their relocation expenses, etc. The last function of global human resource management is the function of labor relations. Effects Of Power Fettweis On American Foreign Policy

There have been numerous books written in the past by various political scientists on how to improve U.S. foreign policy. However, Fettweis’s Pathologies of Power provides a very interesting and somewhat unusual dig at U.S. foreign policy. In his book Pathologies of Power Fettweis is highly critical of the below average foreign policy performance of the United States over the last few decades and he strives to shed some light on why the U.S. keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over again. In his view, the many blunders in American foreign policy can be attributed to the nation’s deep connection to a series of closely held pathological beliefs that he collectively describes as fear, honor, glory, and hubris. Professor Fettweis in his book also discusses the origins of these deep pathological beliefs. He strongly argues that some of the major foreign policy disasters like the Iraq War, the Bay of Pigs and the Vietnam War was a result of these strongly held patholog ical beliefs. He also recommends that American foreign policy performance can be improved significantly if these strongly held pathological beliefs are identified and eradicated and replaced with prudence and restraint.
